Tea Cup Planter - Cute DIY Miniature Garden

I absolutely love repurposing things, and repurposing things into little planters is a fun way to give them a completely new life. I made my first teacup planter with a teacup from a ready I inherited from my late uncle; information technology's the girliest tea set up you've e'er seen, just covered in pinkish florals, which is so not me!

So I decided to accept two of the teacups, paint them, and repurpose them into planters then that I could ameliorate incorporate them into my home (don't worry, there are however six unpainted teacups if I decide one solar day that I want to have a tea party!).

I was recently at a local thrift shop and passed past a few .50 cent tea cups (one-half of a U.S. dollar for you not-Americans reading this!). I just had to bring ane dwelling to share how easy information technology is to make a planter! Hither's what my .fifty cent teacup looked like when I brought it dwelling:

Cute, but totally not my style! Just spray paint tin set up most things, right? I loved the idea of a black teacup since teacups are supposed to exist so prissy, and black, well, isn't prissy at all! And this is a very easy project, too. Here'due south what you'll need.

Supplies you'll demand to make a tea cup planter:

• Old teacup
• Matte black spray paint
• Minor cactus
• Cactus soil

Thoroughly clean your teacup. You don't know how long information technology's been sitting on a shelf in that thrift store! Then grab your matte black spray paint and give it a generous spray on the inside and outside. Two light coats did the pull a fast one on for me.

Pace ii: Planting

When the teacup has stale completed, it's time to found! For this planter, you lot want to use a modest, hardy plant, so a cactus is the perfect fit. I'd propose a small succulent, merely they do all-time in a planter that has great drainage. There is no hole in the bottom of this teacup, nor is in that location much room to build drainage in to the bottom with a layer of gravel. I've plant that cactuses work very well in planters like this because they are just such forgiving plants! Just requite them a lot of low-cal and a bit of water, and they'll stay alive.
